Gua Sha is a healing technique that has been commonly used throughout Asia for many years. Gua means to rub or friction. Sha is the term used to describe congestion of blood at the surface of the body. When friction is applied in repeated even strokes, the sha will be drawn to the surface of the skin.
Benefits of Gua Sha include: moving stuck blood, promoting normal circulation to the muscles, tissues, and organs directly beneath the surface treated, decreasing pain and stiffness and increasing mobility.
This service can be booked as an Add-On to a massage to allow extra time or when requested can be incorporated into a 60 or 90 minute massage.
Cupping, which dates to the early fourth century, is one of the oldest methods of treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Massage cupping is performed by applying ‘reverse pressure’ to the body, via glass or plastic suction cups that are generally placed or massaged along problem areas, in the direction of natural lymphatic flow.
- Sessions are typically 30 minutes in length, and can be integrated with traditional massage therapies.
Goals & Benefits
The technique namely focuses on reducing stagnation & restrictions in problem areas, by breaking down adhesions/knots, and by helping to increase fluid (i.e., blood & lymph) circulation.
Massage cupping helps to reduce the build-up of cellular waste, toxins, inflammation, & excess fluids by assisting in dragging them from deep within muscles/soft tissue, to the body’s surface, where they can be more efficiently disposed of, via the lymphatic system.
More specifically, the massage cupping technique assists in …
- Clearing stagnation
- Relieving inflammation
- Draining/Moving fluids
- Sedating the nervous system
- Expelling congestion
- Stretching muscle & connective tissues
- Loosening adhesions & scar tissue
- Nourishing blood supply to the skin
- Realigns qi
- Resolves obstruction, muscle soreness, and pain

60 Minute Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques and special pillows/bolstering specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
60 Minute Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.
60 Minute CranioSacral (SM)
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
90 Minute Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are used to massage with as well as placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
90 Minute Swe-Thai Massage
Swe-Thai massage is a unique form of massage therapy, combining traditional Thai stretching with a Relaxation (Swedish) Massage. The therapist will be on the table during some of the session, in order to use a greater degree of pressure. Clients say the Swe-Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. A single Swe-Thai massage session works with the muscles, bones and joints and will help you release stress and relieve pain, increase your range of motion and help you function more effectively at work and home.
90 Minute Bodypatterning Session
BodypatterningSM is a process of identifying the level of tissue (bone, fascial, muscle, visceral and nervous) that is causing restriction or exaggeration of the movements expressed by the Ayervedic Chakra system. This dis-ease in movement creates patterns of stress in the body that manifest symptoms of pain. Bodypatterning uses, but is not limited to, both passive and active assistance to the body by using movement, rocking, fascial pulls, lifts, hand holds, finger pressure points and more to encourage a different pattern of movement to help alleviate pain.
